Southpark Menorah Lighting: See the kindling of Charlotte’s biggest Hanukkah Menorah and enjoy free music, crafts, and doughnuts. Tuesday 5 p.m. Southpark Mall’s Circle Court.
On a Winter’s Solstice: Celebrate the shortest day of the year with at Latta Plantation Nature Center with an easy one-mile hike, hot cocoa, some Solstice folklore and history, and a view of Mountain Island Lake at sunset. Rural Hill First Footin’: Experience the Scottish New Year tradition of First Footin’ at Rural Hill on Sunday, January 1st. There will be a vigorous hike around the property, followed by a dramatic reading of Stone Soup, and a potluck lunch.
